You have probably arrived at The Joyality Project because you deeply care for our unique and beautiful world and all its living beings. You care about our collective humanity. That is why you have strong feelings when you hear about the destruction of our world from climate disasters - floods, bushfires and droughts - and the strain that our “civilisation” is putting on ecological systems from habitat loss, plastic pollution, overdevelopment, overconsumption, and other human made stressors.

Experiencing anxiety, moments of deep sadness and periods of depression, surges of anger and underlying feelings of fear are healthy human responses in times of crisis and trauma, and when someone we love is suffering. Your response to the eco-crisis is a natural response because you are likely coming from a place of love and empathy for our world and you hope for a better future for all.

Carrying these strong feelings alone, however, and over a protracted period can be overwhelming and can lead to burnout, numbness, chronic depression and withdrawal, and/or physical ill-health.

At The Joyality Project we celebrate you as a caring person in tune with our beautiful world, and support and encourage you to stay resilient. As a community, we stay connected and empower each other to be the difference that the world needs. Connecting with nature and renewing a connection with yourself through the practices of mindfulness - and tuning into your personal values to guide your actions - will sustain you to stay present, grounded and pro-actively hopeful in this rapidly changing world.

Ecotherapy is one way of receiving support, so contact us to find out more and make an appointment with Kylie Hitchman, our counselling psychologist who is likely to understand your experience, and offers support and strategies that will sustain you.

(All our Joyality ecotherapists are experienced professionals who respect your confidentiality in an emotionally safe and trusting space of deep listening.)
