Eshana Bragg (she/her) - Yaegl Country, The Clarence Valley

DR ESHANA BRAGG - ECOPSYCHOLOGIST

Eshana is a university lecturer, researcher and professional trainer in ecopsychology and social change. Her ground-breaking research in the 1990’s into the psychological health benefits of nature connection, and the causes and outcomes of ‘ecological identity’ make her a pioneer in Australian ecopsychology.

As a director of Sustainable Futures Australia, her work over the past 20 years in community engagement and education has an effective depth, authenticity and therapeutic impact. Co-founding The Joyality Project with young activist Rachel Taylor in 2015, she designs and implements nature-centred workshops and programs which inspire and empower change makers in these challenging times of great potential.

 

Sara Hicks (she/her) - Wangerriburra & Kombumerri Countries, Gold Coast Hinterland

SARA HICKS - MEnv, Bj: education and advocacy specialist

Sara supports people across community with empowering, well-being practices that help them flourish and engage with change.

As an education designer and facilitator for adults and youth, Sara draws together expertise in ecopsychology, climate change and resilience, sustainability, multimedia journalism, corporate training and community development.

Sara has worked as a consultant and facilitator with The Joyality Project since 2018 and is the climate advocate for a not for profit environment council, focussed on policy reform and community engagement.

 

Shamila Millard (she/her) - Bundjalung Country, Byron Hinterland

SHAMILA MILLARD - BA Hons. (anthropology)

Shamila is a climate resilience facilitator, environmental educator and mentor, embodiment specialist and ecotherapist. She brings two decades of research and practise of nature/community/body connection and strategies for action in a changing world.  She has co-designed and delivered programs with clients from diverse sectors of the community including marginalised youth, education, industry and community groups. 

Creating and delivering workshops with the Joyality Collective since 2018 is a natural extension of Shamila’s long-standing commitment to the well-being of both people and our planet. Her breadth of experience, education and genuine care are demonstrated in her culturally aware, collaborative, inspiring and fun style.

 

Kylie Hitchman (she/her) - Gayemagal Country, Sydney

KYLIE HITCHMAN - BSc Psych (Hons) PSY0001137675

Kylie is a registered psychologist with 35 years of experience as an individual and systemic family therapist, counsellor, supervisor, clinical trainer, and now specialises in ecopsychology.

Kylie joined the Joyality Collective in 2022 and is an accredited Climate Aware Practitioner with Psychology for a Safe Climate. She is also a group facilitator, and university ethics tutor. Kylie has run deep ecology workshops at international Bioethics conferences, activist support networks, in high schools and bushland retreats. Her work is focussed on supportive regenerative well-being practices. 

 

Haaweatea Holly Bryson (she/her; Ngai Tahu & Waitaha)

HAAWEATEA HOLLY BRYSON - MA WILDERNESS THERAPY / PSYCHOTHERAPY

Haaweatea specialises in trauma, transition and transformation.  She is a psychotherapist, wilderness therapist, couples counsellor and Rite of Passage guide for 15 years, and Māori Healing Practitioner for 10 years (Ngāi Tahu & Waitaha are her tribes). She has been a Joyality facilitator since 2015, facilitating our Joyality for Healing Professionals (J4HP) cohort. 

As the founder of Nature Knows she trains facilitators in Rites of Passage and culturally relevant ceremonies and quests. As a Nature-based therapist and guide, she has been shaped by her communities, and the co-development of cultural programs with Indigenous young people and their families in Australia, Aotearoa and her base in Hawai’i. These Nature-based perspectives are inherent in her work within prisons and with reintegrating veterans.
